Lesson 69 Congratulations on moving to your new residence!

Moving is a major and delightful part of life in China today as the nation enters an era of being a developed society. It is called "a happy occasion of moving into a new residence," involving moving from very cramped quarters into something more spacious and modern. The Chinese have never before had a chance to choose their ideal home and decorate it to their taste as they have today.

lì li: mài kè, qǐng cān guān yí xià wǒ de xīn jiā!

丽丽：麦克，请参观一下我的新家！   

Lili: Welcome to my new home, Mike!

mài kè: zhè me kuài jiù zhuāng xiū hǎo le? nǐ yí dìng xià le bù shǎo gōng fu ba?

麦克：这么快就装修好了？你一定下了不少功夫吧？ 

Mike: How could you decorate it so quickly? You must have worked very hard on it, right?

lì li: shì de. zhè yī jiān shì kè tīng, dà yuē sān shí píng mǐ.

丽丽：是的。这一间是客厅，大约三十平米。 

Lili: Yes. This is the living room, which is about 30 square meters.

mài kè: xiāng dāng kuān chang. wǒ xǐ huān zhè gè chá jī, tā kàn shàng qù hěn gǔ yǎ.

麦克：相当宽敞。我喜欢这个茶几，它看上去很古雅。   

Mike: It's quite spacious. I like this tea table in a classical style.

lì li: běi biān zhè yī jiān shì shū fáng, zhǐ yǒu shí èr píng mǐ.

丽丽：北边这一间是书房，只有十二平米。 

Lili: The room in the north is a study, which is only 12 square meters.

mài kè: yě bú suàn tài xiǎo. xiě zì tái hé shū guì de chǐ cùn shè jì de hěn hé shì.

麦克：也不算太小。写字台和书柜的尺寸设计得很合适。 

Mike: It doesn't look so small. The writing desk and bookcase are reasonably designed.

lì li: nán biān zhè yī jiān shì wò shì, dà yuē èr shí wǔ píng mǐ.

丽丽：南边这一间是卧室，大约二十五平米。 

Lili: This room in the south is the bedroom. It is about 25 square meters.

mài kè: zhè me dà de chuāng hu! cǎi guāng xiào guǒ yí dìng hěn bú cuò.

麦克：这么大的窗户！采光效果一定很不错。 

Mike: What a big window! It must have a good lighting effect.

lì li: nǐ jué de bù chuāng liánr hǎo hái shì bǎi yè chuāng hǎo?

丽丽：你觉得布窗帘好还是百叶窗好？ 

Lili: Which do you prefer, cloth curtains or Venetian blinds?

mài kè: wǒ xǐ huān bù chuāng liánr, yán sè hé yàng shì gèng duō yì xiē.

麦克：我喜欢布窗帘，颜色和样式更多一些。   

Mike: I prefer a cloth curtain, which offers more variety in color and style.

lì li: nà biān shì wèi shēng jiān, zài wò shì hé shū fáng zhī jiān.

丽丽：那边是卫生间，在卧室和书房之间。 

Lili: That is the bathroom between the bedroom and the study.

mài kè: wǒ lái kàn kan nǐ de chú fáng. hǎo qì pài! zào tái hé zhěng tǐ chú guì kàn shàng qu hěn piào liang.

麦克：我来看看你的厨房。好气派！灶台和整体橱柜看上去很漂亮。 

Mike: Let me take a look at your kitchen. How stylish it is! The cooking stove and the large cupboard look beautiful.

lì li: chú jù yě dōu bèi qí le, wǒ dǎ suàn zhè gè zhōu mò yāo qǐng tóng shì men lái wǒ de xīn jiā jù cān.

丽丽：厨具也都备齐了，我打算这个周末邀请同事们来我的新家聚餐。 

Lili: The kitchen utensils are ready, too. I'm going to invite colleagues to have a dinner party in my new home this weekend.

mài kè: hǎo zhú yi!, zhù hè nǐ qiáo qiān zhī xǐ!

麦克：好主意！祝贺你乔迁之喜！
